Game of Thrones: Kingsroad – The Action RPG You Can Try for Free Soon

The first-ever Game of Thrones action RPG will be available for free in just a few days. If you live in Europe, you can sign up to participate in the beta. Game of Thrones: Kingsroad will launch its first beta on January 16 for both PC and mobile.

While Game of Thrones became a cultural juggernaut in 2011 with the debut of its television series, George R. R. Martin’s fantasy epic has largely failed to carve out a significant presence in the gaming world. Now, that could change with Kingsroad, the first Game of Thrones RPG created under the guidance of Netmarble. Even better, the game’s upcoming beta will allow fans to dive in for free and experience its potential firsthand.

A Class-Based System with Intense RPG Action

Unveiled at the end of 2024, Kingsroad promises an engaging class-based experience. Players will be able to choose from three distinct character archetypes: a Night’s Watch knight with a traditional combat style, a barbarian inspired by the Dothraki and the wildlings with brutal offensive tactics, and an assassin who channels the stealth expertise of the Faceless Men. This setup will be wrapped in an action RPG framework, complete with dodging, blocking, intricate combos, and plenty of over-the-top combat.

What makes Kingsroad particularly intriguing is its emphasis on storytelling. The game introduces an original narrative where players step into the shoes of a new character destined to become the heir to House Tyre, a minor noble house of the North created specifically for the game. According to Netmarble, the story will offer a fresh perspective on the alliances and conflicts that define the Game of Thrones universe, staying true to its dark, politically charged tone. Players can also expect to encounter familiar faces from the show’s adaptation along the way.

Sign Up Now for the Beta

If this sounds like your kind of game, you’ll be pleased to know that Netmarble has already opened beta registrations. Players in the United States, Canada, and Europe, including Spain, can register through the game’s official website until January 12. If selected, you’ll gain access to the beta starting January 16 at 9:00 a.m. (Spanish time), with the testing period running until January 22.

It’s important to note that this isn’t an MMO or a multiplayer experience. Instead, this initial test serves more as a demo than a traditional beta. However, with Netmarble’s expertise in multiplayer games, these early previews will help refine the game ahead of its planned full release later in the year.
