Game of Thrones Star Replaces Ray Stevenson in Ahsoka

MOVIE NEWS – Disney has found Ray Stevenson’s replacement for Ahsoka Season 2 and the future of Star Wars in Game of Thrones. Rory McCann, known for his role as The Hound in Game of Thrones, will step into the galactic universe of Disney and Lucasfilm.

In 2023, the entertainment world was rocked by the tragic death of Ray Stevenson. The Irish actor, celebrated for iconic roles like Tito Pullo in Rome, his appearances in Marvel films, and most recently his performance in Ahsoka on Disney+, passed away in May. Stevenson had returned to Disney for a role showcasing his darker, villainous side, but his untimely death left the fate of this Star Wars character uncertain. Now, Disney has officially chosen a Game of Thrones alum to take over the role.

The Hound Enters the Star Wars Universe

Baylan Skoll, a former Jedi turned antagonist, became one of the standout characters of Ahsoka’s first season. Stevenson’s portrayal, marked by his commanding voice, towering stature, and rugged charisma, left a lasting impression. With the character’s story arc unresolved, fans speculated whether Disney would retire the role or recast it. The latter decision has now been confirmed.

Rory McCann, best known for playing The Hound in Game of Thrones, will take on the role of Skoll moving forward. McCann’s imposing physical presence makes him an ideal choice for the character. The news, initially leaked by a trusted insider on social media, was later corroborated by The Hollywood Reporter.

What’s Next for Ahsoka Season 2?

While production for the second season has yet to start, it has been confirmed that Dave Filoni will return as showrunner, ensuring the series maintains its creative direction. Filoni, a driving force behind the Star Wars universe’s expansion, will oversee the development of the new storyline. However, details about the return of Skoll remain scarce for now.
