The Blood of Dawnwalker: The Witcher 3 Veterans’ New RPG Covers Only 30 Days – Is That Enough for a Great Game? [VIDEO]

Rebel Wolves’ new RPG, developed by The Witcher 3 veterans, promises an immersive 30-day experience, but without rushing players to meet deadlines. The developers assure fans that The Blood of Dawnwalker is not about speed but rather about savoring its rich world, though some tasks will affect the time limit.

This week, the gaming world was abuzz with excitement as a new RPG took the spotlight. While The Blood of Dawnwalker was first announced by Rebel Wolves in 2023, Monday brought fresh insights into the project. It promises an open-world vampire fantasy, impactful choices, and a unique story that unfolds over 30 in-game days. Despite this time frame, the Polish developers emphasized that the limit is not meant to restrict players, ensuring a more relaxed experience.

For those unfamiliar, the story centers on Coen, a Dawnwalker—half-human, half-vampire—living in a medieval world plagued by religion, poverty, disease, and vampires. His mission is to save his family within 30 days and nights. However, Rebel Wolves clarified that this isn’t a race against the clock or a test of speedrunning skills.

While the 30-day structure may remind some of games like Dead Rising 2, where players had limited time to save a loved one, Rebel Wolves wants players to enjoy the freedom to explore their richly crafted world. “There’s no rush—it’s not real-time. You’ll have a limited timeframe to complete Coen’s main objective, and each quest will advance the clock, but exploration will not,” the studio explained on Twitter.

Mateusz Greiner, a representative from the Rebel Wolves PR team, also noted that players would receive clear notifications whenever an activity triggers time progression. Admiring the medieval European night sky won’t be considered wasted time. Furthermore, reaching the 30-day limit doesn’t necessarily conclude the game. Although Greiner didn’t provide specific details, it seems the narrative allows players to continue exploring the world beyond that point, with consequences tied to their choices.

A Promising Concept, But Patience is Required

The Blood of Dawnwalker offers a fascinating premise, even if its release date is still under wraps. The game is confirmed for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, built on the powerful Unreal Engine 5. Rebel Wolves has announced plans to showcase an extended gameplay demo later this summer, so fans will need to wait a bit longer to see it in action.
