Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Remake: What Is Ubisoft Hiding?

The French publisher may be going too far with its silence on the remake of the fourth Assassin’s Creed.

Skull and Bones didn’t live up to Ubisoft’s expectations (and the fact that Rare had done the same with Sea of Thieves years earlier also plays a role). Although Assassin’s Creed Shadows is supposed to be released on March 20th (or not, as it’s already been delayed TWICE by Ubisoft), there are rumors that a remake of the franchise is also coming. It would be a remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, which was released in 2013.

On Twitter, a user who goes by the name Assassin’s Creed Interface reported that he received a playtest request via email from Ubisoft researchers, and that others may have received it as well. This has nothing to do with Assassin’s Creed. However, he was given the opportunity to fill out a survey and was asked about Black Flag. He says that this is not a coincidence and that it follows that Ubisoft might start to implement user feedback in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Remake.

Previously, when Assassin’s Creed Shadows was delayed, there were rumors that the Black Flag remake would be delayed until 2026. According to MP1st, the game is being developed on the Anvil engine, which is what the other episodes of the franchise will use, as opposed to the Unreal Engine 5 that many are using. The project could also be a bit innovative, as Ubisoft could add new combat mechanics to the game (for example, they could adapt the defense system from the Souls titles) and modernize the stamina, stealth or archery.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Remake is rumored to be released in 2025, and perhaps Ubisoft will stop pushing PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the two consoles of 2013, and instead release it on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC respectively. Maybe Amazon Luna, since the French publisher is very fond of Amazon’s cloud service.

All this is not official!
