PlayStation has rolled out a second update, but there’s still work to be done. Nixxes releases a hotfix to address crashes, stability issues, performance problems, and unachievable achievements.
What should have been a celebration for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launching on PC has instead turned into a major controversy for PlayStation. Peter Parker and Miles Morales’ adventure arrived on computers with a port riddled with performance issues, crashes, and bugs—even on high-end setups. Nixxes, the studio responsible for the PC version, has been working over the past few days to stabilize the situation, leading to today’s release of a new update. But is it enough to fix the game? While the developers have addressed multiple issues, much work still remains.
According to the latest statement posted on Steam, Nixxes has issued a second hotfix for Spider-Man 2 on PC, focusing on four key issues. “This update contains several crash fixes and changes aimed at improving game stability.” Below is the list of fixes included in this patch:
• Fixed multiple crash and stability issues
• Resolved a bug preventing players from unlocking achievements on certain setups
• Triangle and Square button prompts now display correctly when using a DualShock 4 controller with Steam Input enabled
• Fixed a frame rate-related issue that could cause crashes during a mission
Even with this update, Nixxes has yet to fully iron out all the bugs in Spider-Man 2 on PC. At the end of its Steam announcement, the team reiterated its commitment to further updates: “We continue to closely monitor crash reports and player feedback. Our development and QA teams are actively investigating and working on additional patches to further improve the game.”
Spider-Man 2’s PC Version Debuts to ‘Mixed’ Reviews
The community is far from pleased with Spider-Man 2’s PC release. The aforementioned issues have led to the game receiving “Mixed” reviews on Steam, with a total of 5,265 user ratings at the time of writing. This makes it crucial for Nixxes to stabilize the situation with post-launch patches in the coming weeks.
