Shift Up believes that Stellar Blade will sell even better on PC after the PlayStation 5 version.
During a Q&A with investors, Shift Up was asked what they expect from the PC port of Stellar Blade. The South Korean developers replied that due to the popularity of the genre (action-RPG) in Asia and the higher than average number of PC gamers in the region, they hope to surpass the results on Sony’s console with a PC port that will feature optimization, a more convenient user experience, additional content, and a customized marketing strategy (the latter of which will be unique to Shift Up).
“In the AAA game market, PC devices have a higher market share than consoles, so we expect the performance of the PC version to exceed that of the console version. In particular, we are observing trends such as the significant expansion of the single-player action game market in the Asian gaming industry. We have identified and analyzed both successful and underperforming cases of console exclusives released on PC, and we are preparing to release the game in a way that will ensure continued success in the PC market,” said Shift Up.
By PC, of course, they mean handheld devices (e.g. Steam Deck, Asus ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion Go, MSI Claw…). Because of the genre, it can be convenient for players to play Stellar Blade on such a device, so it’s no wonder that the South Koreans want it to run on them as well. So they set a goal: they want to make the port a Steam Deck-supported game! If they succeed, it will be a huge success for the studio.
Shift Up has previously claimed that more than 1 million copies of Stellar Blade on PlayStation 5 have been sold worldwide. In a Q&A, the studio added that it has continued to develop the game into a live service title, and as a result, the IP has continued to build an international fan base, which will continue.
Keep up the good work!
