Persona 4 Remake: Did a Vocalist’s Social Media Told About its Existence?

SEGA-owned Atlus may not only have a remake of the third installment in the series, but it could also be planning a sequel.

Some Atlus fans have recently noticed a Persona 4 singer whose social media activity has sparked speculation that a remake of the iconic JRPG is in the works. July 10th marks the 17th anniversary of the fourth Persona game’s release on PS2. When Persona 3 Reload is released in February 2024, it will have been exactly 17 years since the PS2 original was released. This doesn’t automatically mean that a Persona 4 remake is in the works, but Atlus has been rumored to be working on such a project recently.

Fans have begun to investigate Persona 4 vocalist Hirata Shihoko’s social media activity, interpreting it as a sign that a remake of the game may be in the works. Hirata recently revealed that she is working on an unannounced game while posting images from MIT Studio, a recording facility in Tokyo’s Minato ward that is often used by SEGA subsidiaries, including Atlus. Hirata has been liking Persona 4 posts a lot lately, and these could be interpreted as possible hints at a possible revival of the cult classic JRPG.

While a few occasional Instagram posts are hardly conclusive evidence of anything, Hirata’s activity is not the first sign that Atlus may be planning a reimagining of the 2008 JRPG. Back in February of last year, we heard from SEGA leaker Midori that a Persona 4 remake was already in the works, adding that Atlus was also planning to modernize Persona 2. Another leaker, known as Head on the Block, subsequently claimed that Persona 2 was a remaster, while describing the Persona 4 remake as being in the very early stages of development, so we’ll have to wait several more years for that.

Whatever it is, unfortunately, none of this is official yet.
