EA Gives Command & Conquer Fans a Gift – The Legendary RTS Just Got a Huge Upgrade

Electronic Arts has just made strategy fans very happy by unlocking endless possibilities for Command & Conquer. The source code for all C&C games has been released, giving modders powerful new tools.

Nearly 15 years after Tiberian Twilight, many had lost hope of seeing the Command & Conquer saga make a triumphant return. However, in recent years, Electronic Arts has made small but significant moves that have reignited excitement within the dedicated C&C community. We saw it with the fantastic remasters of C&C and Red Alert, which already featured mod support; or with the Ultimate Collection on Steam, which bundled all C&C games together. Now, EA has taken another major step to bring the franchise closer to players.

The Entire C&C Source Code Is Now Public

Electronic Arts has just made the source code for Red Alert, Tiberian Dawn, and over a dozen other Command & Conquer games freely available, significantly expanding mod support across the franchise. No matter which C&C game was your favorite, you now have a reason to return to it. This is no minor update—it grants modders and map creators unprecedented freedom to craft new content. It’s no wonder fans are excited.

According to EA, Steam Workshop now fully supports C&C Generals, Red Alert 3, Renegade, Zero Hour, Tiberium Wars, Kane’s Wrath, Uprising, and C&C 4. All mission editors and scenario design tools have been upgraded, allowing players to upload their custom maps directly to Steam. Additionally, a new Mod Support Pack has been released, providing essential materials, textures, and assets that helped make Command & Conquer a legendary series.

Free C&C Modding Tools for Everyone

Anyone interested in modding can now download the full Command & Conquer source code for free, along with a complete guide on how to create mods in the franchise. While this isn’t a brand-new RTS entry that will thrill veteran players, it’s clear that Electronic Arts is at least making an effort to honor the incredible legacy of Command & Conquer. With any luck, we’ll soon be celebrating the arrival of new games worthy of the classics.
