Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 Devs Apologize but Deny Live-Service Model

“We deeply apologize.” The developers of Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 have issued a statement denying that the shooter will adopt a live-service model. Saber Interactive has introduced limited-time Community Events, sparking backlash among players.

The developers of Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 have recently found themselves forced to address growing criticism from players following the introduction of new Community Events. These events were designed to unlock exclusive cosmetic items, but controversy erupted when it became clear that these items were temporary. Many players accused Saber Interactive of pushing Space Marine 2 into a live-service model while promoting artificial scarcity.

Developers Respond and Apologize

One of the major concerns raised by players revolves around “FOMO” (fear of missing out), a strategy that pressures players into participating in events to avoid missing out on rewards. In response to the backlash, Saber Interactive released an official statement addressing these concerns, firmly denying any intention of making Space Marine 2 a live-service game. They also apologized and announced that the controversial limited-time items would soon be available for purchase in the in-game store.

The statement reads: “We’ve noticed that Community Events have not been well received as a means of unlocking cosmetic items. Many of you have expressed concerns about the FOMO effect these events create. Rest assured, we do not intend to make Space Marine 2 a live-service game. Event cosmetics will be available to everyone at a later date.” – (via IGN).

Future Adjustments

“We want these events to serve as early unlocks for dedicated players rather than a frustrating experience for everyone. However, this means we need to create a smoother system for unlocking items, which has not been the case so far. We deeply apologize for the inconvenience and are actively working on a better, less restrictive method for acquiring these items.” the statement concludes.
