Steam Next Fest: Why Are People Disliking This Popular Demo?

Valve’s regular event where you can try out upcoming games sometimes produces some interesting things.

An important part of the online festival are the many demos that either stay on Steam or become unavailable after Steam Next Fest. There isn’t time for everything, which is understandable, but there are demos that can’t be repeated (if it’s a multiplayer beta that runs for a limited time, it’s considered that), but the fact is that there are some interesting results from the February, June, or October event.

The current Steam Next Fest ends tomorrow at 10 AM Pacific and Steam has ranked the demos. Mecha Break has been at the top of the list for days. There’s a catch: the game’s rating is mostly negative, with only 34% of user reviews being positive! The mix of Armored Core and e.g. Marvel Rivals may get the attention of Gundam fans, but there are many things that are criticized (too long tutorial, live service/live service stuff, and the monetization is almost exploitative).

The Gothic Remake was in second place for a long time, but its clumsy handling caused many to abandon it, and Among Us 3D took its place, bringing the VR version of the game to flat screens. There’s also voice communication with those nearby, so you don’t even need to go on Discord (if Microsoft is going to kill Skype soon), and when the full version is released, you’ll be able to play with those using the VR version. RoadCraft, which combines Snowrunner’s logistics and road building, came in third. Fellowship, which offers the gameplay of World of Warcraft dungeons without the WoW framework, dropped from second to fourth place.

In fifth place is Haste: Broken Worlds. It’s a third-person, physics-defying sprint game that follows the Sonic style, but not limited to two dimensions. The list often changes, but there are many exciting titles on the list, and many of them have much better ratings than Mecha Break….

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
