An older game may be making a return to the recently record-breaking platform, but let’s find out exactly what happened.
A user on Reddit reported what he experienced. While browsing Steam, Gabe Newell’s digital platform offered a surprising game. It was Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Surprised, they clicked on it to see why Steam had suggested it. What they found was strange: the game was no longer listed, meaning it was no longer available for purchase on the platform. They said it was the first time they had ever been offered a title that was no longer available. They added that a few days ago, the first and second parts of Marve Ultimate Alliance were sold on Amazon. In both cases, a Steam code can be purchased on Jeff Bezos’ platform, and both titles are unpurchasable by default…

Marvel Ultimate Alliance was released for Xbox 360, PC, Xbox, PS2, GBA, and PSP in October 2006, followed by ports of the action-RPG for Wii and PS3 in November, and a re-release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in July 2016. The game was developed by Raven Software, the company that mines the Call of Duty mine (i.e. a team that works almost exclusively on the franchise). The second part was developed by various studios: Vicarious Visions for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, n-Space for PS2, Wii and DS, and Savage Entertainment for PSP. They were all released in September 2009. Zoë Mode was behind the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC re-releases, which were also released in July 2016.
Could it be that Microsoft has started working behind the scenes on some of Activision’s older games to get licenses to make them available again? Or have they just found some unused code that they want to sell? And is that why Steam offered this game to the Reddit user?
Lots of unanswered questions, and we don’t have the answers…
