“Óscar Guzmán Takes Off Again” is now available completely free on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series, featuring upgraded visuals and extra content.
While the GTA V and GTA Online next-gen update arrived on consoles in 2022, Rockstar Games has taken its time bringing the same improvements to PC. Now, after three years of waiting, the open world of GTA has been updated for free on PC, introducing the new Óscar Guzmán Takes Off Again expansion, enhanced graphics, and fresh gameplay features for both GTA V and GTA Online.
If you don’t trust reviews and want to see what the Enhanced Edition of Grand Theft Auto V is like for yourself—despite its mixed reception on Steam—you can now download it for free on PC. According to Rockstar Games, this version is identical to the Next Generation Update released on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, only now optimized for PC with additional improvements.
The update introduces better ambient occlusion, global illumination, and Ray Traced shadows and reflections, which console players have enjoyed since 2022. Meanwhile, PC users can finally experience these graphical enhancements firsthand. To optimize performance, Rockstar has also integrated support for FSR, DLSS, and AMD/NVIDIA Frame Generation, along with faster loading times and Dolby Atmos for an improved audio experience.
GTA V’s Free Update Brings New Missions and Graphical Upgrades
Of course, these upgrades come with a catch: GTA V and GTA Online now require higher system specs. The older Legacy version from 2015 recommended a GTX 660, whereas the new version suggests an RTX 3060 or RX 6600 XT for optimal Ray Tracing. While not a massive leap, it’s something to keep in mind for those with aging hardware.
Aside from visual improvements, this update also delivers new content. Players can take part in four new arms-trafficking missions, where they’ll steal shipments and deliver them to GTA V’s returning smuggler, Óscar Guzmán. Additionally, McKenzie Hangar owners will now have the ability to store up to 15 extra aircraft.
The update also comes with exclusive rewards and perks. Players on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC can take advantage of a new progression system with additional bonuses for completing specific missions. Meanwhile, GTA+ subscribers can claim a free Invetero Coquette D5 and enjoy discounts at the McKenzie Airfield Hangar.
On top of that, the GTA+ Classics Collection now includes a free Prince Deveste Eight, among other special items. Rockstar has also confirmed that even more content is coming soon, including a special version of the Hunting Pack mode to celebrate 4/20, World Marijuana Day.
