Nintendo Switch 2: Will the Dual-Screen Experience Somehow Happen?

NINTENDO NEWS – A patent suggests that the big N could be heading in the direction of the DS, possibly the 3DS (or even the Wii U’s GamePad comes to mind).

The Nintendo Switch 2 could bring back the two-screen experience of previous N platforms like the DS and 3DS, according to a recently discovered additional patent. As reported by GameRant, the Japanese company recently patented a connector that can rotate around a magnetic connection point. The patent specifically mentions a smartphone holder as one of the accessories that could be compatible with this design, suggesting that the company is at least considering bringing back the two-screen experience in some form.

Even if this accessory doesn’t have an actual in-game application, it could still be useful for those who want quick access to in-game tutorials while playing, for example. However, since Nintendo files a lot of patents that never become actual products, it is not known if the big N will actually bring back the two-screen solution that worked well for the DS and 3DS, but was not as functional for the Wii U (especially since the pre-Switch desktop console had a huge GamePad).

After the long-awaited launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 in January, we’ve heard very little about the Japanese company’s new platform. Back in February, we saw a few images of the dock and the console’s charger, but it seems that the Japanese company has managed to stop any major leaks, so we’ll have to wait until April 3 for official details, as that’s when the Nintendo Direct will be held, where we might also hear about the console’s price, release date, and launch offers.

The task of Nintendo Switch 2 won’t be easy, but the big N has already taken a good step by supporting a significant portion of the Switch’s game lineup. Considering that the Switch could even go as far as breaking the PlayStation 2’s record to become the best-selling console, the decision is understandable.
