Although Call of Duty 2025 hasn’t been announced by Microsoft yet, it’s about to be as leaks about what’s in store for it start to trickle in.
According to rumors that have been circulating online recently, this year’s installment of the Call of Duty franchise could include up to six full-fledged zombie maps in its lifespan. This was reported by Insider Gaming, which learned that Treyarch, the game’s developer, had planned to create the Zombies mode from scratch so that the maps could be used in different game modes, such as the traditional turn-based modes (Grief, Outbreak).
There are even rumors about the locations of the maps. Reportedly, Treyarch has tried some extreme ideas. Among them is a post-WWII map of New York City, with the twist that the city was destroyed by a nuclear attack. Insider Gaming also mentioned a map set in a Japanese temple. This temple is located at the base of a volcano. A space station map was also mentioned. It’s not clear yet which of these will make it into Call of Duty 2025, but there’s a chance that some of them will definitely make it into the final version.
The next installment in the Call of Duty franchise has not yet been unveiled, and Microsoft is unlikely to do so until June. According to the information leaked so far, the game is codenamed Saturn and will be a semi-futuristic sequel to Black Ops II. The game is also expected to feature some of BO2’s maps in remastered form. Development is still being led by Treyarch Games, who released Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One last fall.
Anything regarding the next installment in the Call of Duty franchise should be treated as rumors for now! We’ll have to wait for the announcement…
