Netflix has been working on a BioShock movie for years. Whether it will ever reach the platform remains uncertain, but it looks like the streaming giant has found a potential lead actor: none other than Jack Quaid, star of The Boys, who is currently promoting his latest film, Novocaine.

During a recent Reddit AMA, the American actor expressed his admiration for the sci-fi adventure, saying that he wouldn’t hesitate for a second to be part of Netflix’s adaptation if given the chance: “I would love to do it; it’s one of my all-time favorite video games. I think its rich narrative would be fascinating to explore in live-action, whether as a show or a film.”

“I Hadn’t Even Played It Before”

However, the game that recently put Jack Quaid in the spotlight wasn’t BioShock, but rather Max Payne. One of the promotional images for Novocaine bears a striking resemblance to a screenshot from Remedy’s iconic shooter. And yet, Quaid admitted he had never played Max Payne before. “I’d never even played it before, but I was amazed when I saw the comparison.” He added that the game is now on his must-play list.

That doesn’t mean Jack Quaid isn’t a gamer. During his Reddit discussion, he also revealed his passion for other games: “I played Bloodborne, then Sekiro, and now I’m deep into Elden Ring. Honestly, I use Reddit mostly to find tips and tricks for beating FromSoftware bosses. I love how challenging these games are; it took me a while to get into them, but now I’m completely obsessed.”

What’s Happening with Netflix’s BioShock Movie?

The BioShock adaptation isn’t progressing smoothly. A few months ago, Netflix announced a reduced budget and a more modest approach. However, this isn’t necessarily bad news; lower budgets often allow for greater creative freedom. Incidentally, Netflix is also working on a Gears of War movie, with Dave Bautista constantly offering himself for a role whenever it’s mentioned.
