After Silent Hill 2 Remake, the next game from the Polish studio is getting a lot of attention… and for good reason! The Bloober team released a new in-depth look at Cronos: The New Dawn during the Future Games Show: Spring Showcase 2025. In the video embedded below, the game’s two directors revealed a few details, including inspiration. Inspirations for Cronos: The New Dawn include Carpenter’s The Thing, Netflix’s TV series Dark, as well as Dead Space, Dark Souls (!), and 12 Monkeys. The Bloober team named the FromSoftware franchise because they’re supposedly trying to push the game in a more challenging direction. In Cronos: The New Dawn, you control one of the travelers.
You are sent to the ruins of human civilization to find the Time Rift and jump back in time to save the people who didn’t survive the apocalypse. The travelers are the only ones who can travel back in time and survive the inevitable encounters with monsters. The design of the clothes is rather boring, but not for nothing because the travelers cannot really be called soldiers, but rather time travelers…
The setting is an alternative history where the world ends in the 1980s with an apocalyptic event. The Polish studio called it The Change and the monsters Orphans, because that’s what humanity would leave behind. The Orphans can take different forms, so they will have different abilities depending on their form. According to the Bloober team, a key component of the game will be body horror, so the Orphans will be created from human flesh.
The game will also feature ladders and places with giant walls of flesh. You can even expect aliens, and if there are monster faces, you can punch them in the face. In some way, but fire will also be an important element. Dismemberment will also work, but not in the same way as in Dead Space, because Bloober Team has taken a unique approach to combat.
Cronos: The New Dawn will be released sometime this year for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC.
