GFA Games’ game showed up at the Future Games Show, and it’s just as promising here as it has been so far…
Pioner, powered by Unreal Engine 4, is set in a haunting alternate reality where Soviet-era buildings stand abandoned on a desolate, post-apocalyptic island of over 50 square kilometres. System requirements are as follows:
Minimum system requirements:
- Operating system: Windows 10 x64 (no version number is mentioned)
- Processor: Intel Core i3-6100
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 (with 6 GB VRAM)
- Broadband internet connection
Recommended system requirements:
- Operating system: Windows 11 (no version number mentioned)
- Processor: Intel Core i5-8600
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060
In neither case was an AMD equivalent mentioned. So you need at least a 4-core/4-thread processor, and a 6-core/6-thread is recommended. In Pioner, it will be possible to complete the story without entering PvP zones and to complete isolated missions without other players. The game will have voice and text chat (global, split by region, party or clan). Some missions can be completed cooperatively, but not the full story.Only cosmetic items will be available for purchase through microtransactions.A server mirroring system will eliminate the need for dedicated servers, as players will be able to form a guild and create a similar enclave on existing servers. Pioner will only support cross-play on consoles to maintain balance.GFA Games plans to release regular updates (balance patches, new content, world expansions). The game will be available for Windows and Linux. The anti-cheat system is still being worked on and the developers do not plan to move Pioneer to Unreal Engine 5 before its release, as it is very system intensive and they want as many players as possible to enjoy the game. Players will not be required to engage in PvP. Story-based activities and PvP activities will be separated by both distance and organization.
The left side of the island will be dominated by PvE content, while the right side will be dominated by PvP. The Shadowlands region will have PvP everywhere. The Middle Earth region has only partially implemented areas with PvP rules. The team has also announced additional rules to ensure that solo players are not harassed and that there will be no spawn camping (you enter the map, you’re immediately killed). Getting the best gear will be possible for both PvE and PvP activities. We will mainly need blueprints and resources, and the latter can be obtained in many activities, including PvE.In the Pioneer world, artifacts play an important role in the economy and equipment creation. Artifacts are expensive and hard to come by. Finding artifacts is almost always associated with anomalies, and you can only obtain them if you have the right equipment.
The MMOFPS genre Pioner is coming to PC later this year and to consoles later.
