TECH NEWS – The Nvidia Game Ready 572 drivers do not only cause unpleasant moments on GeForce RTX 5000 graphics cards…
Since the release of the RTX 5000 graphics cards in January, Nvidia has essentially left the RTX 4000 GPUs alone when it comes to bug fixes. The company tends to focus on newer products, but the introduction of the new Blackwell architecture has not been without its problems. The previous generation Ada Lovelace architecture seemed to work fine with older drivers, but as soon as the greens released new drivers for the new cards, the bug reports started pouring in.
One Reddit user described his personal experience with the newer 572 driver, but also listed several such reports that overlapped with some common bugs. These include issues such as computer freezes, black screens, and even display problems that were not as common prior to the 572 driver. It’s no coincidence that many of these users had success reverting back to the 566 driver (we recommend using the Display Driver Uninstaller, or DDU, to do this).

Nvidia released the 572.16 driver for the RTX 5090 and 5080 on January 30th, and so far there have been no problems. The new architecture brought a lot of new features (DLSS 4, Multi-Frame Generation, DLSS Override). One user claims that Cyberpunk 2077 crashed right out of the box on his RTX 4080, and that it could only be fixed with pre-572 drivers. Another user with an RTX 4090 said he was experiencing multiple issues (black screens, freezes, monitors not turning on) and that switching back to 566 drivers worked for him as well.
So far, Nvidia seems to be ignoring user complaints, even though they’ve been saying for almost TWO MONTHS that there are problems as usual. So far, they have only tried to fix the BSODs on the RTX 5000 cards… after several weeks of delays. The old driver does not include Transformer Model DLSS 4 or the updated Ray Reconstruction…
