Previously, The Chinese Room and Paradox were scheduled for release in the first half of 2025… but that’s changed!
In the video embedded below, Marco Behrmann has announced that the game has been delayed again due to bug fixes, stability improvements and performance enhancements. This is more than five years later than originally planned, because when Hardsuit Labs first presented the concept, they were planning to release the long-awaited sequel in 2020… but that didn’t happen (we summarized this yesterday).
“I am Marco Behrmann, executive vice president of World of Darkness and executive producer of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. Since our last update, we have added more content to the game, more narrative depth, character development, and we have also evolved Fabien’s role in the story. Over the past few months, we have invited you to follow the development of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 in the form of Dev Diaries focusing on various areas of the game, including the Camarilla, the Anarchs, the Hunters, and many, many more. I implore you to check them out and learn more about the game. The status of the game right now is that the game is finished. We are currently focusing on bug fixes, stability, and performance so that we can give you the best experience when it launches. Bloodlines 2 will be released in October of this year. In the meantime, please join us on Discord for any questions or updates,” said Behrmann.
The usual RPG romance would probably not make much sense here, since you are not controlling an adventurer or hero, but an anti-hero named Phyre – an old monster who spends his life drinking blood, killing mercilessly, and scheming day and night. But that doesn’t mean romance is completely out of the question. Chatting with other vampires can be a bit dangerous. Any possibility of dialogue (even an innocent question) can cloud the relationship. And those relationships are a product of how we have built our character’s story, what clan we have chosen, what our reputation is. Still, there is romance (or at least sensuality) in feeding off people. There’s also a lot of flirtatious dialogue, but that can get you into trouble.
“So there are some romantic possibilities. But vampire romance is not the same as human romance. So we have – this is probably horrible, and I don’t want to give this sound bite – we have a kind of romantic food. So there are points with named vampires where, if you have played your cards right, you can do romantic feeding. A vampire bite in Vampire: The Masquerade is called “the kiss,” so the humans don’t scream, and they’re kind of stunned afterwards, and when they come out of it, they’re probably like, “That was awesome. So that’s the romance, whereas we didn’t have that for the combat feeds. We want the combat feeds to be deadly, horrible,” creative director Alex Skidmore told PCGamer.
“As Alex said, romance among vampires is very different and non-traditional, but there are definitely relationships – as there would be if you were with the same group of people for 100 years. And that’s an interesting part of the puzzle – figuring out who’s allied with who, whether it’s a romantic alliance or a political alliance. So they could probably have a lot of things going on behind closed doors,” added narrative director Ian Thomas.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is available this October for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC.
