The Assassin’s Creed account on X fired back at Elon Musk and Mark “Grummz” Kern in a rare public confrontation. After years of backlash over Shadows, Ubisoft finally struck back—and the internet loved every second of it.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows has taken plenty of heat online, but Ubisoft decided enough was enough. After Elon Musk and developer Mark “Grummz” Kern criticized the game, the franchise’s social team fired off two brutal responses that exploded on social media.
It began with Grummz tweeting: “You can tell a lot about Ubisoft @Ubisoft by how much money they are throwing at terrorist-platforming streamers.”
He was referencing Hasan Piker, who recently played the game in sponsored Twitch broadcasts.
The word “terrorist” was likely a jab at Piker’s outspoken support for Palestine and criticism of the Israeli government. Musk joined in shortly after: “Hasan is a fraud… ‘Sell-out’ would be more accurate. Objectively, he is promoting a terrible game just for the money.”

Ubisoft Responds—and Wins the Internet
The Assassin’s Creed account fired back: “Is that what the guy playing your Path of Exile 2 account told you?”
The comment referred to Musk’s earlier boasts about his Path of Exile 2 and Diablo 4 ranks—until it came out he had hired players to grind for him. A livestream disaster exposed how little he knew about the game, and Musk later admitted he paid for account boosting.
Musk’s post got 22,000 likes. Ubisoft’s reply? Over 410,000. The message was clear.
Grummz Defends Musk—Gets Roasted Again
Kern posted a screenshot of an article criticizing Assassin’s Creed Shadows sales. Ubisoft replied sharply: “Our game is out.”
Grummz was let go from Blizzard in 2005 and later became a vocal critic of DEI initiatives. He founded Red 5 Studios, creators of Firefall—a game that flopped and shut down in three years.
He later launched Em-8er, a crowdfunded successor to Firefall. In 2025, it still doesn’t have a release window. Ubisoft did their homework before replying.
We’d like to join GamingBible in sending this message to Elon Musk: “Requiescat in pace, idiot.”
