But Andrew Goldfarb, Senior Communications Manager at Sucker Punch, has stepped in to ease those concerns by reaffirming that the game is still expected this year.

On Twitter, Goldfarb referenced a series of job postings at Sucker Punch, revealing that the studio is currently hiring community managers to support “Ghost of Yotei’s release this year.” While delays can always occur, this statement represents the first positive development in months and has given fans renewed optimism.

Delays have become a common concern in the gaming industry, especially when developers go quiet for extended periods. That silence has surrounded Ghost of Yotei since its original announcement, and its absence from events like State of Play only added fuel to the speculation that the title might not meet its planned release window.

Rockstar’s Shadow Looms Over Yotei’s Launch Plans

However, the biggest hurdle might not be development-related at all, but rather the looming presence of GTA VI. While the original Ghost of Tsushima launched in June 2020, Yotei is now targeting a late-year release—a timeframe that could overlap with Rockstar Games’ massively anticipated new open-world title, rumored for release between September and December 2025. Many developers are reportedly holding back announcements until Take-Two confirms GTA VI’s exact launch date.

Although no specific release date has been shared, it appears PlayStation is not shying away from competition. Should everything go according to plan, Ghost of Yotei is still slated for a 2025 debut, continuing the legacy of the Ghost of Tsushima franchise with a brand-new adventure.
