Microsoft may be holding back some episodes from Sony and Nintendo.

A trusted Xbox insider suggests that the rumored Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 ports of Halo: The Master Chief Collection may not include all the games in the series. This may be at odds with what Microsoft has been up to for the past year, as we heard about Xbox’s multiplatform strategy last February. As a result, games like Hi-Fi Rush, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Grounded, and Forza Horizon 5 have been or will be released on other platforms. For this reason, exclusivity may not be in Microsoft’s best interest.

However, there are still IPs that are exclusive to Xbox. Like Gears of War or Microsoft Flight Simulator. We’ve heard rumors about possible ports of these games (and we’ve reported on them). But for a while now there have been rumors that Halo: The Master Chief Collection could be coming to Nintendo Switch (its successor, Nintendo Switch 2, is more realistic) and PlayStation 5, but so far Microsoft hasn’t said anything about it. Most people believe that the Complete Collection could be ported to other consoles, but now we’re hearing the opposite.

In the Xbox Two podcast, The Verge editor Tom Warren mentioned that although he’s not sure, he thinks Microsoft is making a lot of games for Nintendo. The Halo collection was mentioned, but Warren responded that it’s unlikely all the games will be on the Switch 2, so it might not be a collection in the traditional sense. Either some games may be left out, or features may be missing, or games may be released separately. This could also apply to the PlayStation 5, as it’s not even certain which console is affected by the “shortfall”.

So Microsoft could be playing a trick, but it’s not official yet!
