After being taken down due to a copyright claim by Wizards of the Coast, the beloved Baldur’s Village mod is once again available for download. The developers have confirmed that new features are coming soon, including a major romantic event with Astarion, one of the most popular characters from Baldur’s Gate 3.
The Baldur’s Village mod charmed the Stardew Valley community by introducing beloved Baldur’s Gate 3 characters into the peaceful life simulator, allowing players to build relationships with companions like Astarion. Recently, however, controversy erupted when Wizards of the Coast—owners of the Dungeons & Dragons brand—issued a takedown over copyright concerns. The move shocked players and even prompted support from Larian Studios, developers of Baldur’s Gate 3. Thankfully, the issue has been resolved, and the mod is back with additional updates on the way.
“We Can Move Forward”
Mod creator Xun shared a long post on X (formerly Twitter) reacting to the takedown and its resolution: “We recognize that protecting intellectual property is a complex and serious responsibility, and we are grateful that our intentions—as fans and creators—have been understood.”
They added: “On the day we received the copyright notice, we had just finished the Astarion 10-heart event planned for the next patch. We were heartbroken at the thought that this content might never reach the community.”
“Fortunately, we can move forward. In the near future, we will release a small update including bug fixes and the Astarion 10-heart event. All other planned content will also continue as scheduled.”
This return was made possible thanks to the support of the community, Nexus Mods, and Larian Studios. Now, Stardew Valley players can once again enjoy romantic moments with Astarion and look forward to more character-driven events featuring the Baldur’s Gate 3 cast.
