MOVIE NEWS – Guy Ritchie remains one of the hardest-working filmmakers in Hollywood, and he’s showing no signs of slowing down. His latest project, Fountain of Youth, blends globe-trotting action with sharp humor in a way that recalls the spirit of Indiana Jones. Starring John Krasinski, Natalie Portman, Eiza González, and Domhnall Gleeson, the first trailer has finally arrived—and it might just be the Uncharted film fans always dreamed of.
The official trailer for Fountain of Youth has been released by Apple TV+, with the film set to debut exclusively on the streaming platform on May 23. The story follows two estranged siblings who reunite to search for the mythical Fountain of Youth, and the trailer teases a globe-spanning journey filled with exotic locales and non-stop adventure. Though Ritchie is no stranger to action, this film stands apart from his usual fare. Watch the trailer here:
Fountain of Youth marks Ritchie’s first feature made exclusively for streaming, yet it looks to be one of his most cinematic productions to date. His previous film, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, received positive reviews but underperformed at the box office. Coming up, Ritchie will release In the Grey—an action film starring Henry Cavill—and the streaming series MobLand, featuring Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Helen Mirren. With Fountain of Youth, Ritchie steps into uncharted territory, and it might just become one of his most acclaimed works.
Here’s the official synopsis:
“Fountain of Youth follows two estranged siblings (John Krasinski and Academy Award winner Natalie Portman) who partner on a global heist to find the mythological Fountain of Youth. They must use their knowledge of history to follow clues on an epic adventure that will change their lives … and possibly lead to immortality.”
When the first images of the film were revealed months ago, Ritchie described it as being “in the vein of Indiana Jones, but contemporary.” The film is a major departure from his usual action-comedy-gangster style. According to the director:
“I found myself feeling like if I wasn’t too careful, I was ending up in a comedy-action-gangster genre, of which, of course, I’m comfortable and enjoy, but at some point, I thought, you have to spread your wings as a writer-director.”
Natalie Portman, who plays the sister of John Krasinski’s character, said the film offered her a completely new experience. Judging by the trailer, the movie zips from one spectacular location to the next. In her own words:
“I’d never been to Cairo or Vienna before and was blown away by both cities — some of the most special places I’ve ever been. We also had a crazy chase sequence we shot in Liverpool, which was some really wild car work, and an incredible sunken ship sequence we shot on stage in London. It was always an epic day with wild stunts and scenarios to tackle. Just the most fun you can have, really.”
