Hackers Have Made Star Wars: Battlefront II Unplayable!

The game from DICE and Electronic Arts has been unplayable on PC for days… it’s a little embarrassing, and that’s putting it mildly!

Star Wars Battlefront II is currently unplayable. It’s trying to cleanse itself of every single creature, to use a metaphor. Over the past few days, players have reported that the 2017 release has become almost completely unplayable, as hackers have managed to prevent matches from starting in any game mode. News of hackers with unauthorized admin rights on the official Battlefront II servers has been around for months, but the situation has become serious in the last two weeks.

It appears that the hackers are able to completely disable player spawn, rendering lobbies completely inoperable as the game will not start properly at all. Earlier this week, players on the game’s subreddit described the servers for the game’s 40-player game modes (Galactic Assault, Supremacy) as constantly being hacked, leaving only the cooperative and smaller lobby-requiring game modes playable. As if that weren’t enough to hold players hostage, hackers have been spamming the affected lobbies with abusive messages.

In the last 24 hours, even the less popular game modes (Heroes vs. Villains, Starfighter Assault) have suffered from persistent lobby spawns. Essentially all game modes are broken, making it impossible to play the game online in any meaningful way. The situation has become so serious that the ongoing hacking has become the subject of every thread on the front page of Electronic Arts’ official Battlefront 2 forum, and the number of negative reviews on Steam has steadily increased over the past week as lobbies have become inaccessible…

This isn’t the first time the game has found itself in this situation. In fact, four years ago, there was a widespread problem where entire lobbies could not be reduced below 1 HP, meaning that no player could be killed and no game could end unless time ran out or players quit themselves. This went on for months…
