It’s gone from stores for good, and players had little time to react. Farewell, Evil Dead: The Game. “We have begun the process of removing the game from digital stores. Anyone who has purchased the game will be able to continue playing it,” the devs confirmed.
In the world of video games, even fan-favorite titles can suddenly disappear. Licensing rights often decide whether a game stays available or vanishes into digital oblivion. That appears to be the fate of Evil Dead: The Game, Saber Interactive’s 2022 multiplayer horror title based on Sam Raimi’s cult franchise, which has now quietly been pulled from digital storefronts.
Players Slam Saber Interactive Over the Sudden Disappearance
This week, users noticed that Evil Dead: The Game was being delisted from platforms like the Epic Games Store and PlayStation Store. Today, Saber Interactive confirmed via Steam that the game is being intentionally and globally removed. However, the company reassured players that servers would remain operational and those who already purchased the game could keep playing. While the developers didn’t offer a specific reason, it’s widely believed that the removal stems from the expiration of licensing agreements.
“We can confirm that we have begun the process of removing the game from digital stores. Anyone who has purchased the game will be able to continue playing it, as we plan to keep our servers online for everyone.” The message concluded with a heartfelt note: “We want to sincerely thank our community, those who have been part of the game from the beginning and those who joined more recently.”
Understandably, the community is angry. Saber Interactive hasn’t provided any detailed explanation, nor was the game offered at a discount prior to being pulled — something that other publishers, like those behind Forza Horizon 4, have done. The timing and silence have only fueled frustration among dedicated players.
