There’s a Reason Why So Little Is Known About Five Nights at Freddy’s 2

MOVIE NEWS – With nearly $300 million in global box office revenue, Five Nights at Freddy’s was almost destined to get a sequel this fall — even though the first film didn’t end on a traditional cliffhanger.

There’s very little known about the new plot, other than the return of the first film’s down-on-his-luck protagonist, Mike Schmidt (Josh Hutcherson), and the confirmation from the trailer that, as expected, the haunted pizzeria’s murderous animatronic monsters are back in action. The teaser also hints at the return of the sinister mastermind behind the chaos, William Afton (Matthew Lillard), whose voice alone is heard shouting, “Showtime!”

Afton’s apparent comeback is actually the reason why the filmmakers have remained tight-lipped about the sequel’s storyline. The character died in the previous installment, yet here he is again — and in a supernatural setting, that’s not a problem. Logic doesn’t always apply in this universe, so other previously deceased characters might make a comeback as well. And let’s not forget Scott Cawthon, creator of the original video game series and co-writer of the film franchise, who could bring entirely new twists to the narrative — a little extra topping on the pizza, so to speak.
