Moadra: It Can’t Deny the Alien Inspiration! [VIDEO]

Gloomsoft’s game is obviously inspired by the 1979 Alien franchise, and it’s not just for PC anymore.

Play as Lieutenant Moadra Meras, a member of the Neera Elite, on a deadly mission to explore the mysterious planet of Protea VI and discover what happened to a once-thriving civilization. Dive through rough sand and icy ice into lush underground caverns full of secrets. Activate your scanner bot and use X-ray vision to examine creatures, reveal hidden passageways, and discover secret areas previously lost to time. The fate of an entire species hangs in the balance. Can you survive the horrors that await you, or will you become just another lost soul to fall prey to Protea VI?

Whether you try to survive the desolate surface, climb the deadly, icy peaks, or scout the research facility infested with malevolent alien species, Protea VI has many lost secrets to uncover after the extinction of your ancestors 20,000 years ago. Danger lurks around every corner. Use Moadra’s agility to your advantage, rolling, dodging, leaping, wall-jumping and sprinting at unprecedented speeds to avoid deadly organisms and dangerous elements. Use your quick reflexes, an arsenal of weapons, and special abilities to survive everything from low-level threats to giant monsters that will force you to use every tool at your disposal.

Activate your scanner bot and use X-ray vision to examine creatures and your surroundings. Reveal hidden paths and secret areas invisible to the naked eye, and map out the places you explore. Blow up unfriendly creatures and organisms to absorb their protoplasm, clumps of energy-packed biomass. Consume it in organic chambers to perform metamorphosis and evolve your skills and weapons to new levels.

Moadra was previously only announced for PC, and the plan was to release it sometime in 2025. The release date hasn’t changed (it’s still set for sometime this year), but the target platforms have been expanded to include PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch. The question, of course, is: while it can draw attention for its inspiration, to what extent can it stand out from the crowd of Metroidvanias (there have been so many in recent years) to attract attention?
