Chris Hemsworth & Halle Berry’s New Crime Thriller Lands Release Date

MOVIE NEWS – Fans eager to see Crime 101, the upcoming heist thriller starring Chris Hemsworth and Halle Berry, can now mark their calendars. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon MGM Studios has officially slated the film’s theatrical release for February 13, 2026—just in time for Valentine’s Day. And really, who needs roses when you’ve got an Avenger pulling off high-stakes jobs outside the MCU? The date also lines up with Presidents’ Day weekend, making it a prime moviegoing opportunity.

The studio has locked in the February 13 release, even though that same day will see the debut of Emerald Fennell’s controversial adaptation of Wuthering Heights and an unnamed Marvel Phase 6 film. Still, a long holiday weekend often boosts box office numbers, and Crime 101 offers something distinct—a deadly cat-and-mouse thriller that pits two former Avengers against each other rather than uniting them on the same side.

Hemsworth stars as Davis, a seasoned jewel thief with a meticulous code, while Mark Ruffalo takes on the role of LAPD Detective Lou Lubesnick, hot on his trail. The film is helmed by Bart Layton and co-written with Peter Straughan, based on Don Winslow’s novella. The original story follows a series of high-profile jewel heists along the Pacific Coast Highway that have baffled law enforcement for years—mainly because the criminal adheres to a personal code he dubs “Crime 101.” While some investigators blame the cartel, Lubesnick becomes convinced he’s dealing with a solo operator—and he’s closing in.

‘Crime 101’ Has a Large Ensemble Cast

In addition to Hemsworth and Ruffalo, Halle Berry plays a significant role, although details about her character remain scarce. At the 2025 CinemaCon presentation, Berry appeared in preview footage and described her character as someone who “writes insurance policies for people who have more money than they know what to do with.” She praised Hemsworth, calling him a “stand-up guy” and reflected fondly on their time working together on the project.

Pedro Pascal was originally set to portray Lubesnick, but had to exit due to scheduling issues. Mark Ruffalo stepped in as his replacement, ensuring the role remained in capable hands. The cast is rounded out by an impressive ensemble, including Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbaro, Corey Hawkins, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Nick Nolte, Tate Donovan, Babak Tafti, Payman Maadi, Deborah Hedwall, Devon Bostick, Paul Adelstein, Drew Powell, and Matthew Del Negro. So far, the specifics of their characters remain under wraps.
