As Rockstar pushes back GTA 6, EA is already locking in the future of Battlefield, confirming when the next game will be unveiled and released.
The next Battlefield is officially set to launch before April 2026, and EA has confirmed it will be revealed in summer 2025. Closed testing to polish the FPS experience is already in the pipeline.
The Battlefield series has never faced such a critical moment. After the disastrous release of Battlefield 2042, one of the most poorly received titles of 2021, Electronic Arts seems determined to bounce back. After months of closed tests and feedback-based refinements, EA now has a clear idea of what it wants from the new installment.
In its Q4 earnings call, EA confirmed that the upcoming Battlefield reveal is set for summer 2025. “Beginning this summer with the highly anticipated reveal of Battlefield will be a pivotal step in delivering our next generation of blockbuster entertainment,” said CEO Andrew Wilson. He also announced that the game would launch no later than April 2026.
EA Has a Battlefield Strategy for the Post-GTA Window
Back in February, EA mentioned that it might shift the Battlefield release date depending on the competitive landscape. Though Wilson didn’t name it outright, he was referencing Grand Theft Auto 6. With GTA 6 pushed to May 2026, EA appears more confident than ever. “We think the window is clearer than before, and we feel very good about Battlefield launching in fiscal 2026,” he told Gamesradar.
Meanwhile, DICE announced on X (formerly Twitter) that it’s expanding its Battlefield Labs closed testing, opening registration to players in Europe, North America, and Asia. “Alongside new content, we’re continuing to focus on balancing weapon archetypes, tuning damage output, refining movement mechanics, and optimizing combat pacing. Destruction also remains a core theme—we’ll keep testing breakable objects across various maps and fine-tune how surface damage behaves,” the post stated.
