Dev Shocker: Gears of War Will Look Better on PS5 Pro Than Xbox Series X

The developers behind the Gears of War remaster claim it will deliver a superior visual experience on Sony’s PS5 Pro. The game is set for release on August 26 and is already up for wishlisting.

In a twist that no one saw coming, Gears of War: Reloaded—a remaster of Microsoft’s iconic third-person shooter—will reportedly perform better on Sony hardware than on Microsoft’s own console. That alone has sparked major discussion in the gaming community.

Gears of War: Reloaded Is One of the Week’s Most Talked-About Reveals

The official PlayStation Store listing reveals that the game is being published by Microsoft Corporation and will launch on August 26 at 5:00 PM Spanish time. It will feature online multiplayer for up to 8 players, local two-player split-screen co-op, and full integration of the DualSense controller’s adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. What’s more, the game is specifically optimized for the PS5 Pro.

As is common with many Sony store listings, the exact nature of these enhancements has not been detailed yet. We’ll likely need to wait until launch nears for full specs on how the PS5 Pro version differs from the others.

Microsoft, meanwhile, has shared more specifics on the technical improvements: the remaster will run at 4K resolution and 60 FPS in single-player, and support up to 120 FPS in multiplayer. It will also include HDR, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 audio, 3D spatial sound, VRR, 4K texture assets, enhanced post-processing effects, realistic shadows and reflections, advanced supersampling antialiasing, and a completely seamless campaign with no loading screens. We’re hyped to dive in.
