Dragon Age The Veilguard: Star Actress Slams Pre-Release Hate – “This Backlash Is Absurd”

“This is absolutely ridiculous!” exclaims the lead actress of Dragon Age The Veilguard, baffled at the negative criticism some gamers hurled at the title before it even released. “People were already attacking the game before anyone had a chance to play it. It’s just absurd,” says Alix Wilton Regan, the voice behind the Inquisitor in Dragon Age The Veilguard.

Dragon Age fans waited more than a decade for BioWare’s fantasy RPG to return, but The Veilguard instantly polarized the community and failed to revive the franchise’s former glory in terms of sales. While the story and characters drew praise, a significant number of players condemned the game before it ever launched.

Lead Actress Takes Aim at the Early Haters

Alix Wilton Regan, the Inquisitor’s voice actor, spoke candidly in a recent interview about how much the harsh reactions affected her and the BioWare team. “I was absolutely crushed to see BioWare get such a mixed reception. Personally, I thought The Veilguard was a very solid game, but it felt like there were people who just wanted to see it—and BioWare—fail, because there’s so much toxicity online. People were attacking the game before release. It’s ridiculous!” she told IGN.

“How can you judge a game, a book, a movie, or a TV show before it’s even out? You just can’t. It’s complete nonsense. I wish only the best for everyone at BioWare, because I truly adore them. And I have no doubt that whatever they create next will earn the recognition they deserve. We’re lucky that they’ll continue to deliver masterpieces for us in the future,” she added. After the disappointing sales and reception, EA imposed layoffs at BioWare, which now has fewer than 100 developers working on the early stages of Mass Effect 5.
