Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Remake: It’s More and More Likely to Exist! [VIDEO]

Another exciting twist in Ubisoft‘s yet-to-be-announced project has us believing that it’s possibly not a fake.

Over the past few console generations, Ubisoft has leaked many projects before their official announcement—even some that were ultimately canceled, like the Project Renaissance we reported on today. These frequent leaks have become synonymous with Ubisoft, especially with the Assassin’s Creed IP. It often feels like we already know everything that’s in the works for the series, from multiplayer spin-offs to the co-op mode in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The most intriguing project, though, is the still-unannounced remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.

We first heard about it around two years ago, and it has surfaced multiple times since then in rumor form. At one point, it was said to be coming this year, but the repeated delays of Assassin’s Creed Shadows may have changed that. Just a few days ago, Pure Arts, the company known for crafting statues based on the Assassin’s Creed series, held a livestream where they seemed to confirm the remake of the 2013 game while discussing the protagonist, Edward Kenway.

One presenter mentioned that Assassin’s Creed fans should know that “something is happening to Edward,” implying that a new version of the character is in the works. This prompted the other presenter to ask if “that” had been announced yet, and the reply was that he had seen an article about it, along with some rumors. This all sounds like Edward’s design is getting a bit of an update for the remake, if a new statue of the character is being made.

The presenter then reiterated that “something is going to happen to Edward” and that the Pure Arts 1:8 scale figure will “reflect that.” While the details remain vague, it suggests that Pure Arts knows about the upcoming remake announcement and that Edward Kenway’s appearance may be getting refreshed from what we saw 12 years ago. But for now, it’s still just a rumor!
