Xiaomi and Polyphony Digital today announced a landmark partnership at the first round of the Gran Turismo World Series 2025. As part of the collaboration, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra – Xiaomi EV’s high-end, high-performance luxury electric vehicle – will debut in the globally acclaimed racing simulator Gran Turismo 7 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. It is the first Xiaomi model to appear in the franchise.
Gran Turismo is widely recognized as one of the world’s most authentic driving simulators, with engineering parameters that reflect the performance of real-world vehicles. Its impact extends far beyond video games – it is also a driver of innovation in vehicle dynamics and road safety, while uniting automotive enthusiasts worldwide. The inclusion of the Xiaomi SU7 in the game reflects the rise of intelligent, high-performance electric vehicles in the automotive industry.
In May 2025, Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi met with Xiaomi Group Founder, Chairman and CEO Lei Jun in Beijing. During the visit, Yamauchi took an immersive test drive of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra and toured Xiaomi’s EV factory in Yizhuang.
Kazunori Yamauchi stated:
“We are delighted to begin this partnership with Xiaomi. The Chinese automotive industry is developing rapidly, and Xiaomi, a newly established player in the automotive industry, has already created an exceptional vehicle, the Xiaomi SU7, which is a key part of its comprehensive intelligent ecosystem, from smartphones and wearables to home appliances.
In addition, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Prototype broke traditional performance benchmarks at the Nürburgring. Seeing these results, I was deeply touched by Xiaomi’s courage, curiosity, passion, and tireless commitment to achieving its goals and milestones. This spirit resonates deeply with the philosophy of Gran Turismo and Polyphony Digital.”
Lei Jun added:
“We deeply agree with Mr. Yamauchi’s vision of building a better society through technology. This is in perfect harmony with Xiaomi’s mission to provide a better life for everyone through innovative and accessible technology. Our shared values have formed the basis of this collaboration. With Gran Turismo’s uncompromising quality and experience recognized worldwide, we are particularly honored to have the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra as a part of it. We look forward to showcasing the capabilities of our high-performance smart electric vehicles to even more Gran Turismo players and car enthusiasts.”
At the partnership announcement, Yamauchi highlighted the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra as a prominent and defining player in the smart EV segment, adding that its competitive performance on the Nürburgring Nordschleife demonstrates the impressive engineering capabilities of Xiaomi electric vehicles.
