Anshar Studios and 3D Realms have officially announced when the revamped Painkiller will launch—and yes, it’s also coming to consoles.
The title might raise eyebrows since it reuses the name of the original, but this new Painkiller will arrive in two editions. The standard edition is priced at $40 and comes with the Iron Crusade skin pack as a pre-order bonus, granting cosmetics for four characters (Ink, Void, Sol, Roch) and six weapons (Electrodriver, Stakegun, Rifle, SMG, Hand Cannon, Rocket Launcher). Those who pre-order the physical disc edition will receive the Burnished Pride weapon pack, offering golden skins for the same weapons. The $50 Deluxe Edition includes the Iron Crusade pack plus access to three upcoming DLCs, each containing six weapon skins and four character skins.
The classic Painkiller franchise returns! Get ready for fast-paced co-op action in the depths of Purgatory, using brutal, hellish weaponry to wipe out merciless demonic hordes. Condemned for your sins, the voice of the Creator offers you one last shot at redemption. Will you seize it, or vanish into eternal darkness? This reimagining supports up to three-player co-op and full offline functionality, delivering rich, gothic battlegrounds filled with chaos and carnage.
You’ve been cast into Purgatory for your sins against Heaven. But now, the Creator gives you a second chance—to become a champion and stop the fallen angel Azazel before he unleashes his infernal legions upon Earth. Along the way, you’ll confront enemy hordes, demons with unique powers, and Azazel’s three monstrous children—the Nephilim. Your salvation depends entirely on completing your mission.
Jump, dash, and grapple across massive biomes while unleashing an arsenal of both classic and brand-new Painkiller weapons. Purgatory becomes your personal battlefield, infested with grotesque horrors and demonic threats. Enhance your abilities using tarot cards, and combine them with your allies’ powers to devastate your foes. You can choose from four characters—Ink, Void, Sol, and Roch—each specializing in areas like energy, vitality, strength, and damage.
Painkiller launches on October 9 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.
