Where Winds Meet: This Massive Open-World RPG With 10,000 NPCs in One City Is Only a PS5 Exclusive—For Now!

An epic fantasy RPG so enormous that just one of its cities is home to 10,000 NPCs is launching as a PS5 exclusive—but only temporarily. PlayStation has secured exclusive console rights to Where Winds Meet for six months after release, but the game is also coming to PC and mobile.

Drawing inspiration from games like Ghost of Tsushima and set in a sprawling medieval world steeped in wuxia tradition, Where Winds Meet made its debut in China in December 2024. The iOS and Android versions are still pending in Asia, but Everstone Studio now has two big milestones on the horizon: a global launch in 2025 and a closed beta this July. For the worldwide release, the developers have been crystal clear: on consoles, Where Winds Meet will be PS5-exclusive—at least at first.

The game’s latest trailer, where the studio confirmed the Western release window, made it official: as a Sony-backed title in China, the RPG will stay exclusive to PS5 on consoles, though it will launch simultaneously on PC and mobile. As the video emphasizes, Where Winds Meet won’t arrive on other consoles until “at least six months after its PS5 release.”

July Beta: Try Where Winds Meet for Free

The closed beta for Where Winds Meet begins July 25 and will be available for both PS5 and PC (via Steam). Interested players can sign up until July 24, with a full week to explore the game’s mechanics and world for free, with support for Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and English. The test will focus on Kaifeng, one of the game’s most impressive and intricately detailed cities.
