Ghost of Yotei: The Promised State of Play Is Coming Soon!

Not too long ago, Sony Interactive Entertainment and Sucker Punch Productions announced that the next major Sony exclusive would get a dedicated show. Now we finally know when.

According to the announcement, the State of Play will kick off on July 10 at 9 p.m. UTC, with over 20 minutes of gameplay. The event will feature Sucker Punch Productions’ creative directors Jason Connell and Nate Fox, who will talk about Atsu’s new weapons, customization options, and other gameplay features. You’ll be able to watch the stream live on YouTube and Twitch. Expect more coverage in the news on the 11th.

Become a different kind of ghost and witness a bold new story set against the breathtaking scenery of northern Japan. This standalone experience takes place 300 years after the critically acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima, following Atsu, a haunted lone mercenary, in the 1600s. Driven by revenge, she sets out to hunt down those responsible for killing her family years ago. Her quest across Ezo takes her through unexplored lands in search of a gang of six outlaws. Along the way, she’ll encounter much more than she expected. Help her find unlikely allies, forge lasting bonds, and carve a path toward healing and redemption.

Feel the thrill of combat as the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback brings Atsu’s katana fights right to your fingertips. Master the bow and arrow or the grappling hook, experience the excitement of battle, and explore various terrain types—all highlighted by the adaptive triggers of the DualSense. Appreciate the power of PlayStation 5 with lightning-fast load times that will instantly transport you to the beautiful environments of northern Japan. Explore lush, vibrant landscapes with breathtaking visuals as Atsu journeys through snowy ridges, wildflower meadows, and rocky terrain. With Tempest 3D AudioTech, immerse yourself in 17th-century Japan as spatial audio creates a unique soundscape all around you.

Ghost of Yotei releases for PlayStation 5 on October 2.
