Fantasy General II is a reimagining of the classic ’90s strategy game. Armies once again battle for control across the war-torn land of Keldonia, as a new generation of commanders puts their tactics and courage to the test. Staying true to its roots, Fantasy General II is all about turn-based combat. Lead more than 75 unique unit types, including powerful heroes. Factor in terrain, weapons, armor, magical effects, morale, and the balance of power—plan, execute, defeat your foes, and carve out your legacy as a ruthless commander.

Every battle forces you to make tough choices and develop your army. Train up the young members of your clan and, as they gain experience, even the greenest recruits can turn into champions. But be warned—costly victories can hurt more than defeat. When seasoned units fall, all their progress and experience are lost. Each unit has unique skills, weapons, and armor. Equip them with magical artifacts found in battle, and upgrade them with gold and resources looted from the enemy. You can field axemen, berserkers, spearmaidens, trolls, and shamans, summon ancestor spirits and powerful elementals, train agile stag riders and deadly werebears, or hire mercenaries from longbowmen to centaurs.

You’ll face the Empire’s massive legions and magical inventions—from dragon cannons and golems to the undead hordes they command. Along the way, you’ll also fight harpies, lizardfolk, and mighty dragons. The world of Aer is rich with beauty and wonder, from the frigid, magic-laden highlands of Fareach (home of the player’s barbarian clans), to the Borderlands’ fertile river valleys and deep forests—where witches and monsters roam freely. Explore the Sunken Land, now swamped and crawling with lizardmen after a great cataclysm, and travel south to the Empire, a refined and temperate land built on undead labor and home to wondrous cities. Your campaign will play out on diverse battlefields, each demanding new tactics and army compositions.

Fantasy General II is available for free on Steam thanks to a special promotion from publisher Slitherine. Developed by Owner by Gravity, the game boasts a strong reputation, with 81% of the 975 user reviews since September 2019 being positive.
