Infamous Comeback? – Ghost of Tsushima Director Sends Sony a Clear Message: “I Would Love to!”

“I would love to.” One of the creators behind Ghost of Tsushima, Nate Fox, has directly addressed Sony, asking for a return to Sucker Punch’s former flagship franchise. As the studio’s creative director, Fox openly shared his desire to revisit the Infamous series, presenting two exciting options, though he also mentioned a key drawback. With his statement, hope for Infamous’ return has sparked anew, though the team’s immediate focus lies elsewhere.

There’s a surge of excitement surrounding Ghost of Yotei, especially among players who adored Ghost of Tsushima. That was the title that catapulted Sucker Punch into the industry’s top ranks, thanks to their mastery of open-world design and deep narratives. Now, as everyone watches for their next move, one veteran developer has made a statement that reignites hope for the return of a beloved franchise.

Could Infamous Return?

Nate Fox, director of Ghost of Yotei and one of the creative forces behind the acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima, recently gave an interview to GameInformer. His comments have caught Sucker Punch fans’ attention and could easily be read as a message to Sony. Fox said he’d love to “work on more Infamous” or “see a relaunch of the trilogy”—a nod to the beloved superpowered saga.

He was quick to clarify, though, that Sucker Punch is a one-game-at-a-time studio and currently all hands are on finishing Ghost of Yotei for its October 2nd release. The Infamous series has been dormant for over a decade, with its last main entry dropping in 2014. Despite Sucker Punch stating back in 2022 that there were no plans to bring the franchise back, Fox’s latest words show there’s still some spark of interest among the higher-ups.

A trilogy re-release—potentially enhanced and sold as a complete bundle—would be a perfect chance for Ghost of Tsushima’s new fans to discover the roots of the studio’s open-world design. That said, no one knows for sure what Sucker Punch’s next project will be; what is certain is that the ‘Ghost of’ franchise has a bright future at PlayStation, with a Ghost of Tsushima anime planned for 2027 and a film adaptation in the works, helmed by the director of the John Wick films.
