Borderlands 4: Nintendo Switch 2 Port Coming Soon After the Others!

Gearbox Software and Take-Two (2K) have finally announced the release date of the next episode in the franchise.

So far, we only knew for sure that Borderlands 4 would be released on Nintendo’s new hardware later this year, after its release on other platforms. We thought the looter shooter set in the world of Kairos would be released for the Nintendo Switch 2 in late November or early December, but we were mistaken. The port isn’t coming later; it’s coming sooner—on October 3! This is a pleasant surprise for anyone who planned to play the new Borderlands entry on Nintendo’s hybrid console. (The only question is: how well will it run?)

Borderlands 4 is a chaotic looter shooter packed with billions of weapons, outrageous enemies, and intense cooperative action. Explore the dangerous planet of Kairos as one of four new badass Vault Hunters. Break free from the Timekeeper, a ruthless dictator who rules from above. Now, a world-shaking disaster threatens his perfect order, unleashing chaos across the entire planet. Start a resistance and blast your way through mechanical monstrosities, bloodthirsty bandits, and savage beasts using new movement mechanics like double jumping, gliding, dodging, and fixed-point grappling. Fight solo or co-op with up to three other players in this massive sci-fi adventure, packed with free-form combat and exploration, pulse-pounding boss fights, endlessly diverse loot, and an eclectic cast of both new and returning characters.

Borderlands 4 launches September 12 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC (originally planned for a week later, but the release date was moved up!). Nintendo Switch 2 will get the game just under a month later, on October 3. Don’t expect a steep discount any time soon—as we previously reported, you might have to wait four or five years for that.
