Wednesday Gets Spooky News From Netflix Before Season 2 Premieres! [VIDEO]

MOVIE NEWS – Netflix isn’t just bringing back Wednesday for Season 3—they’ve already started developing a spinoff series, all before Season 2 even drops. Jenna Ortega returns as the lead while Tim Burton’s career keeps booming with Wednesday and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. The show’s creators have big plans, but it all hinges on Ortega’s continued rise; Season 2 lands in two parts this August and September.

Netflix struck gold with Tim Burton’s Wednesday, and the partnership with Burton and Jenna Ortega is only getting stronger. Thanks to the massive success of Wednesday and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Burton’s career is on a new high—and Ortega could become his next “Johnny Depp.”

The Hollywood Reporter confirms Wednesday is already renewed for Season 3, and Netflix is in early talks for a spinoff. Creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar hope the series will run for as many as seven seasons, though much depends on Ortega’s own fast-growing career and her ambitions behind the camera. Ortega is on the rise, tackling new projects and exploring directing opportunities.

On the spinoff, Gough said, “It’s something we’re definitely noodling; there are other characters we can look at.” Netflix’s Bela Bajaria added, “There’s a lot to explore in the Addams Family.” Wednesday’s first season centered on Wednesday Addams tackling life at a new school and solving a murder mystery.

Season 2’s synopsis teases, “Nevermore is back in session as Wednesday tangles with a new principal, a devious campus stalker and a waning grip on her psychic powers.” The cast includes returning faces like Gwendoline Christie, Riki Lindhome, Jamie McShane, Hunter Doohan, Emma Myers, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, and Issac Ordonez, while Haley Joel Osment joins as a new creepy character and Lady Gaga steps in to help shape the new season. Season 2 will be split: Part 1 launches August 6, Part 2 on September 3. Season 1 debuted to rave reviews, hitting 150 million households and over a billion hours viewed in its first three weeks.

Critical praise has been strong, with a 73% Rotten Tomatoes score and the consensus: “Wednesday isn’t exactly full of woe for viewers, but without Jenna Ortega in the lead, this Addams Family-adjacent series might as well be another CW drama.” Ortega earned Golden Globe and Emmy nods for her performance, and the series has become a runaway hit. Fans can’t wait to see what’s next for Wednesday Addams.
