Lollipop Chainsaw: New Game and Anime Adaptation in the Pipeline!

Dragami Games and Nada Holdings didn’t take long to make the announcement, and our earlier hunch was correct.

Last week, Japan’s Dragami Games and Taiwan’s Nada Holdings revealed plans to create a larger IP from Lollipop Chainsaw, presumably due to the attention generated by Lollipop Chainsaw RePop, the revival of the cult third-person action game that debuted almost fifteen years ago. When the news first broke, it seemed obvious a transmedia approach was coming—and that’s now confirmed, as both a new game and an anime adaptation are officially in the works.

“Under the strong partnership between Nada Holdings and Dragami Games, development is already underway on a brand-new Lollipop Chainsaw title that preserves and builds upon the original’s appeal. With a firm commitment to honoring the spirit of the original work, the development team includes key staff members who were involved in the previous title. The new project is also being developed with close attention to fan feedback. As with the original, the new title aims to recreate a world rich in dark humor. The development process will prioritize staying true to the distinctive tone and spirit of the original work without imposing excessive creative restrictions in the name of diversity, equity, and inclusion,” reads the official statement.

Since this is just an initial announcement, both projects are likely in very early stages. That means we shouldn’t expect major details on the new game or anime adaptation in the near future. The press release provided little information about the anime’s specifics, and there’s no tentative release date for either project. There’s also no point in speculating about target platforms just yet.

Hopefully, this partnership between Dragami Games and Nada Holdings will turn out to be fruitful.
