Dying Light: The Beast may have disappointed fans with its release delay, but Techland’s decision is exactly what this open world title needs. The studio doesn’t want to repeat old mistakes and is determined to deliver the best game possible, even if it means waiting a little longer.
While your first reaction may be frustration or disappointment, there are good reasons to be glad Dying Light: The Beast isn’t launching just yet. As we mentioned recently after our hands-on with Techland’s new open world adventure, the game has a ton of potential—but it also had bugs and rough edges that needed smoothing out. Instead of surviving the zombie apocalypse this August as planned, we’ll now have to wait until September.
As Techland themselves admit, “We’re on the cusp of launching Dying Light: The Beast, and everyone at the studio feels the excitement.” With the press offering overwhelmingly positive early feedback, “this only proves what we already knew: we’re making a truly fun and special game.” That’s why the team is taking extra time to polish every detail before release.
Final Touches and the Fans’ Feedback
“We are creating a very fun and special game.”
“We understand this may be disappointing, but experience has taught us how crucial first impressions are. With just four more weeks, we can focus on the little details that make a good game great,” they explain in their official statement. Planned improvements include better physics, a clearer interface, and tweaks to cinematics and player animations.
Techland also took the chance to thank fans for their passion with every new title, highlighting the most repeated feedback from the latest Dying Light: The Beast showcase. “We tirelessly read and collect your feedback and opinions, trying to ensure your voices are heard. We know exactly what matters to you,” the Polish studio added.
It’s worth remembering that neither the original Dying Light nor its sequel launched in perfect shape—disappointment quickly gave way to respect as Techland kept working to improve them. So, at the last moment, the launch of Dying Light: The Beast was postponed to September 19. Far from bad news, it might be the best thing that could have happened to the game.
