We’re talking about a 2017 console that’s becoming more expensive nearly eight and a half years after its release. Everything has its limits. Citing market conditions, Nintendo is raising the prices of the original Switch product line in the United States, effective today. The price increase affects the Switch OLED model, the Switch, the Switch Lite, and certain Switch accessories. Other products, including certain Switch 2 accessories, Amiibo, and the Nintendo Sound Clock, Alarm, will also see price changes. However, the prices of Switch 2 hardware, Switch and Switch 2 games, and Nintendo Switch Online memberships will remain unchanged. This price increase is similar to the one that recently took effect in Canada.
Target has introduced the new prices, which are as follows: Switch OLED: $400 (up from $350), Switch: $340 (up from $300), Switch Lite: $230 (up from $200), Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarm is now $110 (up from $100), and Joy-Con controllers have increased in price from $95 to $100. It’s only a matter of time before the Nintendo Switch 2 increases in price there and around the world.
