Great news for anyone eager for an open-world soulslike: over 90% of players who tried the Nioh 3 demo say they’re excited for the final game. Team Ninja just released the survey results, and the response is overwhelmingly positive.
One of the biggest surprises from PlayStation’s recent State of Play was the announcement of Nioh 3 – still no launch date, but Team Ninja isn’t slowing down, and both Koei Tecmo leadership and fans are happy with what’s coming. According to the devs, 90.9% of players who tried the Nioh 3 demo gave it a thumbs-up, so all signs point to a winner.
The feedback survey ran alongside the PS5 demo from June 4 to 18, letting players try out two different combat styles (samurai and ninja) and explore a new open-world design aimed at capturing Nioh’s signature intensity. That direction seems to be paying off. While the feedback form has closed, the studio says all the comments are shaping the final version of the game.
Nioh 3’s Open World and Combat: On Track According to Players
That 90.9% satisfaction covers gameplay, world exploration, and the dual combat system. The demo let players freely switch between samurai and ninja styles, tweaking tactics for each encounter. Players could also experiment with new open-field mechanics, a big change from the linear structure of past Nioh games.
According to Team Ninja, the high approval rate shows they’ve struck a solid balance between innovation and what fans love about the series. The demo was intentionally focused, gathering feedback on combat, game systems, and the open world’s feel. Players sent in opinions via the studio’s website and directly in the demo.
Recent in-house tests confirm that the final version of Nioh 3 will have big improvements based on this feedback. Team Ninja is aiming for an early 2026 release, with more polished combat, expanded maps, and a story shaped by the community’s interests.
