How Does Destructibility Affect Your Character in Battlefield 6?

In the new Battlefield, destruction will impact your character, but not immediately. Following the extremely positive reception of the open beta, Battlefield 6 has gained significant momentum, breaking the franchise’s Steam player record and surpassing its rival, Call of Duty.

The first phase of the open beta was a major success, with over half a million concurrent players on Valve’s platform alone. As a result, the community has been actively discussing the features showcased in the beta. On Twitter, David Sirland, one of Battlefield 6’s lead producers, responded to a player who expressed doubts about the minimal damage caused by collapsing structures and other destructive elements.

Sirland clarified that destruction does damage to players, just not instantly. He explained that prioritizing fun over randomness was key to this gameplay decision. He also hinted that staying under falling debris for longer will have a greater impact on a player’s health, especially with larger debris. He noted that destruction-related damage will be further adjusted as the game approaches its “1.0” release.

His statement offers further clarity on how destruction works in the latest Battlefield entry, potentially reassuring players with concerns about the feature. Sirland confirmed that the damage values may change before the official launch, though it remains uncertain whether they will be increased or decreased.

The next open beta period will run from August 14 to 17, and it will be interesting to see if it surpasses previous player records.
