Wuchang: Fallen Feathers: A Mod May Offer a Solution to the Unkillable Problem

In this case, the term “unkillable” is meant literally, not figuratively, so the problem is not insignificant.

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is like Bloodborne if you stripped away Victorian England and replaced it with a heavy dose of 14th-century China. The game recently received its 1.5 update, which introduced some undeniable quality improvements but also a set of highly controversial story changes.

Several historically important bosses and NPCs can no longer be killed, and the dialogues following battles with them have been noticeably altered. Recent user reviews make it clear that players are unhappy, claiming that the developer has undermined the entire theme of the story in one stroke by altering the plot and catering to nationalists who would never actually play the game.

To address this, a mod called the Rollback Censorship Patch has appeared on Nexus Mods, allowing players to revert to version 1.4. “Wuchang: Fallen Feathers v1.5 massively downgrades the game experience. Most late-game bosses, NPCs, and enemies now become exhausted instead of dying, offering meaningless banter instead of story-driving dialogue from the original game. Essentially, patch 1.5 has ruined the story and immersion,” reads the mod’s description.

This mod works only with the Steam version, so anyone playing Wuchang: Fallen Feathers through Xbox Game Pass is out of luck, as Microsoft’s subscription platform does not support the Rollback Censorship Patch. On Steam, players must disable automatic updates to prevent the next patch from overwriting the mod, and they must launch the game from the mod’s exe file instead of through Steam.

The mod has already been downloaded over 1,000 times, demonstrating clear demand…

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
