Aces of Thunder: World War II Aircraft in VR, Coming Soon! [VIDEO]

Gaijin Entertainment has announced the release date for Aces of Thunder, and later you’ll also be able to enjoy dogfights outside VR.

Feel the thrill of aerial combat like never before with Aces of Thunder, boasting high-fidelity graphics and unmatched immersion. The game has been crafted specifically for the latest generation of VR headsets. Its physically accurate flight and damage models, drawn from the popular War Thunder military action game, ensure a deep level of realism. Battles take place entirely from the cockpit view to maximize immersion, with full HOTAS support. Aces of Thunder offers a fleet of legendary World War I and II aircraft that you can hop into and fly immediately after purchase.

You’ll be able to fly more than 20 carefully recreated, iconic WWII aircraft, including the American P-51 Mustang and P-63 Kingcobra, the German Bf 109 and Fw 190, the Soviet Il-2 and Yak-9T, the British Spitfire, and the Japanese A6M3 Zero. Historic fighters such as the Fokker Dr.I—famously flown by the Red Baron—and the SPAD S.XIII, favorite of Allied ace René Fonck, come with authentically detailed cockpits and historically accurate weaponry.

Battles in Aces of Thunder span the globe, letting players grasp where the war’s fate was decided. Explore 15 stunning maps that portray three major WWII theaters: the Western Front, Eastern Front, and Pacific Front, along with iconic WWI battle lines. Compete against top virtual pilots worldwide in multiplayer or sharpen your skills through engaging single-player missions. Step into a meticulously detailed interactive cockpit and take control with your own hands. Between missions, wander around the hangar and admire your favorite aircraft up close.

Aces of Thunder launches on September 2 for PlayStation VR2 and SteamVR. A non-VR version will follow soon after, allowing play on PlayStation 5 and PC without a headset.
