Forget about massive 400-hour open-world adventures – The Blood of Dawnwalker focuses on “quality over quantity.” According to Rebel Wolves, the game will last around 40 hours, but the developers claim they still “went crazy” with the content.
Expectations are rising around Rebel Wolves’ upcoming RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker. The developers have teased its open world, combat system, and commitment to a vampire setting, but have now confirmed that players shouldn’t expect a never-ending journey. While many games in the genre tend to sprawl, their target is a tighter 40-hour experience.
This was explained by Patryk Fijalkowski, senior quest designer, in an interview with GamesRadar+ at Gamescom 2025. “It’s dense, but we didn’t want to make a 400-hour open world,” he said. Instead, they chose to focus on making every moment count. “Quality over quantity – that’s what helped us stay on track.”
One of the game’s core mechanics is a ticking clock: the player has just 30 in-game days to save their family. This guided the entire development process. “We had a clear skeleton early on – the number of missions, how they link, what we could do with them. That framework gave us room to experiment, to add layers, and to iterate again and again,” Fijalkowski added.
A World That Reacts to Player Choices
The The Blood of Dawnwalker team also revealed that the story will be tightly interwoven with the player’s actions. In other words, the plot won’t pause while you explore – instead, it will maintain constant urgency and realism. The result is an RPG world that actively responds to your decisions, where every choice carries weight and consequence.
