After years of anticipation, Full Circle has finally shared when players can dive into EA’s free-to-play, open-world skateboarding game. The official trailer confirms the release date at last.
Skateboarding fans have been eagerly awaiting news about Skate, EA’s revival of the cult-favorite series developed by Full Circle. After years of rumors and delays, the launch trailer has finally dropped, confirming the long-awaited release date for this sports title.
Skate. will debut in early access on September 16, starting exclusively on PC. The game will be completely free-to-play, meaning players won’t need to spend a dime to jump in. While many questions remain about monetization, EA has clarified that all purchases will be strictly cosmetic—no pay-to-win boosts, locked-off areas, or other unfair advantages will be on offer.
An Open-World Skateboarding MMO
Skate is designed as an open-world sports experience that requires a constant online connection. Full Circle’s vision is to create a living city populated with skaters in real time—a true skateboarding MMO. The fictional city of Saint Vansterdam was built entirely with skating in mind, offering endless spots for ollies, grinds, and every trick imaginable. Challenges will refresh regularly to keep the experience fresh, while players can also walk, jump, climb, and test themselves in parkour-inspired trials. The world is fully accessible from the start, though some areas must be unlocked through progression.
Even better, Skate. supports cross-play, letting friends join up regardless of platform. The title will be available on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One, making it widely accessible. As for a possible Nintendo Switch 2 version, EA hasn’t said anything yet.
According to Full Circle, “Day 1 of Skate is just the beginning,” promising a long-term service model with evolving content. The visual style—bright, polished, and Fortnite-inspired—aims to balance mass appeal with the grittier vibe of skateboarding culture.
Bringing Back Classic Gameplay
Built on EA’s Frostbite engine, Skate resurrects the iconic Flick-It system that fans know and love. Tricks will once again rely on subtle, precise stick movements, leaning more toward a simulation feel than the over-the-top antics of Tony Hawk games. With its September 16 release, Skate. marks the start of a new era for the franchise.
